Are you preparing to paint the exterior and interior of your commercial or residential building? Before (or instead of) doing a physical painted mock-up, try this quick-and-telling exercise. Paint your color options on a thin board. Then carry the board(s) to each building side noting the various light and shadow scenarios. Next, place the samples color boards next to the storefront, awnings, or any other elements that will remain part of designed space. Analyze the look.
Take note that the appearance of the paint will change according to the lighting, based on the texture of the material where paint is applied, and in relation to the proximity to other colors. After this exercise, a physical mock-up can be done with greater confidence.
